Pause It

Selah: to pause; think on this; silence; to lift up

Selah... Pause...

Sometimes days can be like this...

Now, where’s my ‘to do’ list? ...oh that’s right...I ran out of space and needed a new list book.

OK, where is that list? I know, it’s in my filing somewhere. Man, I hate filing :/... I’ll just clean up a bit and get myself ready to do the filing ......

- 2 hours later -

Dang, I was meant to meet dad ... Heck! I’m going to be so late for work :/ ... Whoops, gotta get petrol first. Hang on, there’s the list 🙂 Oh, woah! Can't start on that ... gotta get that list in order and prioritize ......

- 8 hours later -

Wow, what a day ... better start that project ... *charge my computer*...I forgot to message Hannah :/ *texting* ... oh, dinner? ... ummm ... Rice cakes? ... I’m stuffed. I’m going to bed ... Oh, awesome! Time to read 🙂 ... zzzzzzz (bible falls on floor) ......

Now, this may not be your typical day but it sure is easy for this to be typical :/ I say this to myself.

When we wake up we have the gift of a new day. And, wow! SO easy to climb into the day feeling like there’s a wet sock dragging behind us :/

“To Pause”. Hardly ever convenient. But after many Psalms, which are stories of people’s daily lives, there it is – Selah.

Pause and think on this

When there is more ‘selah’ in my life, there is more productivity, more peace, and certainly less stress.

...so, pause...

But the amazing thing is that in life with Him, no matter what is going on about your life, where you are, who you’re with, no matter how much noise or chaos is around, He is always there waiting for us to pause. To pause in the midst of it all and let our souls also come to rest.

His Presence is louder than our biggest drama, our biggest challenge and our greatest fear... He’s there in the pause.

Pause...

Immediately you realize His voice. A reassuring Presence that instantly quiets your heart...

Pause...

And you say, “Wow, I gotta get here more often!”... And all the sounds of life lay still and you realize He has been drawing you in the whole time...

Pause...

His Spirit has been at work causing you to selah...

“I have loved you, My people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to Myself.” Jeremiah 31:3

He draws us... what a God! He draws us because He knows that He is the Home. He is it. And He continues to show us through His drawing us with His loving kindness.

Bill Johnson says, “Everyone wants a King like Jesus.” Let His pause fall on you... 🙂

Selah...
